Rye's Rock Concert on Monday

Duncan Rock in Billy Budd
Today, Duncan Rock is singing at the Coliseum on the opening night of The Magic Flute in the role of Papageno. Next Monday, 17th September, the young baritone is taking time out from the ENO to give a lunchtime recital at the Rye Arts Festival.

The concert, which will be held at St Anthony's RC church in Rye's Watchbell St at 1.00pm, will see Duncan accompanied on piano by Elizabeth Rossiter. A real treat is in store for the Rye audience in what will be first lunchtime concert at the Festival and the first time that the lovely church has been used as a venue in the 41 years history of Rye Arts Festival.

Duncan Rock is fast gaining a reputation and perhaps it is too late to say that he is as a star of the future! He he is being brought to Rye thanks to the generous offices of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, the City of London livery company, that uses its charitable status to promote and support classical music and to foster the careers of young musicians in particular.

Rye Arts Festival launches on Saturday 15th September and runs right through to 30th September with a packed programme of classical and contemporary music, literary talks, theatre, comedy, kids events and much more! For more details go to the website. Or call the Box Office on 01797 224442.
