Lizzie Archer Telling Tales - Spooky Ghost Stories!

No, not Nigel Pargetter's voice from the grave! Alison Dowling, who plays Lizzie Archer in the long-running eponymous Radio 4 soap, will be telling The Singalmen and other Ghost Stories on Friday 28th September at the Fletcher Centre - the buildings in Lion St that were once the old Library, art room and coffee lounge of the FE Centre - as part of this year's Rye Arts Festival.

Alison will be joined by Roger May, who plays James Bellamy (Lillian's boy) in the realistic series of everyday country folk, and one other actor. Throw in special effects, surround sound, buildings that have sadly stood empty for over a year, and cracking stories and it promises to be a very entertaining evening.

The Signalmen was written by Charles Dickens after he survived a train crash that killed five other passengers and injured many more. Five years to the day of the crash, and Dickens popped his clogs! Spooky, or what?

  1. On a high from Mexico trip; the Merida Mayan Men and Women loved the Morris steps. They weren't too comfortable with the stick manouevres.
I'm a lifelong Ambridgonian, so defintely want to see Lizzie.
My burning question is how she feels about her parents' naming policy.First the twins sound like a bad 60's pop duo and then she and her older brother named after Diana's wedding dress designer.
Off to meet new American Chinese chum Con Ga.

    1. Those crazy Mayans - I could never get under them in either a physical or philosophical sense, and if you've got wood in your hand, which I'm sure you were waving in your magnificent fashion, well I can see why they weren't overly eager.
I'd bend over backwards to come under Con Ga's tutelage!
