Festival Archive

We celebrated our 40 year anniversary in 2011.  Over the years we have had an impressive line up of speakers, performers, activities and events.

Here is a selection of events from last year:

Oliver Everett talked about his book  "George III The Most Cultured Monarch" and  Royal biographer Hugo Vickers spoke about his book "Behind Closed Doors" - the tragic untold story of the Duchess of Windsor.

Professor Andrew Motion read from his poetry book "Laurels & Donkeys".  Enjoy his tour of the wonderful Poetry Archive

Two World Premieres were specially written for the Rye Festival by Roxanna Panufnik and Paul Lewis.  Classical musicians who performed were Emma Johnson, Julie Price, The Wihan String Quartet, Aquarelle, Richard Frewer, Stepheon Kovacevich, Close 7 and the Festival ended with a magnificent Gluck Opera.

Giles Brandreth provided a very entertaining evening as did the many jazz and contemporary musicians who visited us.
