In recent years Rye Arts Festival has been promoting new, young writers, and this year one of the most talented of the young generation of authors is coming to Rye in September to talk about her work. On 20th September Evie Wyld will be at the Mermaid Inn, talking about her first novel After The Fire, A Still Small Voice, which won the 2009 John Llewellyn Rhys Prize (the second oldest literary prize in the UK), and is set in Australia following three generations with a focus on fathers and sons.
And Evie beat stiff competition - the shortlist in included Aravinda Adiga, Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche and Tristram Stuart (who will also be talking at this year's Rye Arts Festival).
Evie works part-time at an independent bookshop in Peckham (south east London) called Review while she isn't writing and will have her second novel published shortly. And as a regular visitor to Rye she is looking forward to the Festival. For more information on all the events between 15th and 30th September, click here, and for more info on Evie, click here.
