Celebrating Rye's John Fletcher

Great news that the Fletcher in Rye group and the Church have purchased the old FE Centre in Rye's Lion Street. This means that the Fletcher group's exciting plans to convert their half of the buildings on the site into a cinema, entertainment centre and cafe can, at last, get underway, creating a new, vibrant facility for the people of Rye in the heart of the town!

It's too late to use the facility for this year's Rye Arts Festival, which runs from 15th to 30th September, but hopefully a fantastic new venue will be available for 2013.

Fletcher in Rye was set up by a group of locals looking to build a theatre and cinema celebrating John Fletcher, one of the town's most famous sons, a playwright who was a contemporary of Shakespeare and also collaborated with him on a number of plays.
