What's for Lunch?

Two lunchtime concerts are on the menu at this year's Rye Arts Festival in September. As part of the classical music programme, the Festival is continuing with its short series of 1pm concerts that were begun last year. And, as last year, young and upcoming artists will be coming to Rye, under the banner of Ryesing Stars, thanks to the generous sponsorship of The Worshipful Company of Musicians.

The first concert will be on Tuesday 17th at 1pm in  the Methodist Church and will feature Canadian violinist Katie Stillman and pianist Simon Lane, who have been playing together since 2005. Their concert, which will last one hour will include pieces by Bartok, Korngold and Franck.
And the Jacquin Trio will also play at the |Methodist Church, with a concert at 1pm on Friday 27th September.

The trio comprises Jessie Grimes on clarinet, Zoe Matthews on viola plus pianist Charis Cheung and were winners of 2102 St Martins-in-the-Fields Chamber Music Competition.

They will play Mozart, Schumann and Bruch, plus a new piece by Simon Rowland-Jones that he specially composed for the Jacquin Trio.

Tickets, costing £10, are available from the Festival Box Office, which is open from 9.30am to 1pm on Monday to Saturday at Phillips & Stubbs Estate Agents. office in Cinque Ports Street. Otherwise, ring 01797 224442 to buy tickets or to get more information.
