Courtney Pine - Jazz Giant Coming to Rye

A great summer of jazz in Rye is being rounded off with a concert by Courtney Pine on 21st September, brought to you by the 41st annual Rye Arts Festival. Pine is Britain's foremost jazz saxophonist, with an international reputation to boot - they really don't come much bigger or better!
Courtney Pine will serve as the main course, after your appetite for jazz has been whetted by the jazz festivals in Rye at the end of August, with a highlight being the concert on 25th August by Yolanda Brown (also a saxophonist) brought to you by Rye Bay Marketing - check out here.

But make sure you also check out the packed programme of events - contemporary and classical music, literary talks, drama, comedy, walks and much more which feature in the Rye Arts Festival between 15th and 30th September - tickets are now on sale. I've been very remiss with my news but I feel you will understand if you saw the spectacle of Morris in the closing ceremony of the Olympics. Danny felt so bad at bumping me from the opening ceremony he got me a slot in last night's spectacular. Mind you Dame Shirley was a bit grumpy at being bounced.
Also came across Sir Rock as a Games Maker stationed outside the Greenwich Park. He always was happiest with old sailors.
Met up with Dan-Gho's sister Fan a synchronised swimmer no less. Looking forward to seeing Courtney, inviting my old friend Lindy Hop to that one. More soon.

  2. Ciao Maurice saluti from Taranto.
    Happy days.

Maurice, you old cove. When you're as big in France and now the UK as me, you'll find you're somewhat plagued by Tribute Acts. I think you were troubled by Slur Och, an ever so slighly camp Glaswegian inebriate who might have swapped Greenock for Greenwich to show his 'charged' moves (invented by me) to the maturer matelot! I remain happily wed to Lady GoGo, who first invented the Mo-Bot in recognition of my staying power and surging finish. I'll have you know, I am not known as the Last Lap D'Anceur for nothing!
