Bird Ringing Tour - Festival Preview

The Rye Arts Festival is currently planning a varied programme of literary, music and theatrical events for the 2012 Festival in September but each year we also offer a range of special events which focus on local people and organisations.  This year we are delighted that the Wetland Trust in Winchelsea have offered to run a Tour and Talk on Bird Ringing.

Bird Ringing generates information on the survival, productivity and movements of birds, helping us to understand why populations are changing.   Last year 80,000 birds were ringed at the Wetlands Trust Ringing Centre, the biggest number ever by a single station in the world. The Trust was set up to promote and conserve natural bi systems by creating and restoring the habitates of exitings and rate species of plants, insects, birds and mammals locally to the Pannel Vally in Icklehsma, East Sussex and elsewhere for the benefit of the public. Full details of the event will be launched in July.

Wildlife enthusiasts should come to Rye in June for the RX Wildlife Festival which includes walks, talks and family events.
