Kids Events this Weekend

Part Punch and Judy show, part magic, a free show for kids and family kicks off this year's Rye Arts Festival.

Bertie Pearce is sure to provide a lot of fun for all the family in the yard outside the Fletcher Centre in Lion St (the old Library).

He will be doing two shows - one at 3pm and another at 4.30pm, so if you miss the first, why not pop along to the second one - you are bound to be amused. And if you aren't, you can ask for your money back!

And on Sunday at 3pm in the Community Centre, there will be a puppet show called Forest of Fables ,

which is a retelling of some of Aesop's fables using puppets, mime, sound, dialogue and live music. Characters like Lion, Gnat, Fox and Donkey will be brought to life in an enchanting show that will delight the whole family.

The puppeteers from Idol Rich Theatre Company brought a darker show to last year's Rye Arts Festival - this year the accent is solely on fun with, of course, a message that is central to each of Aesop's tales.

Tickets are £3 for kids and £6 for adults - great value for what is one of the UK's leading puppet theatre companies.

Tickets can be bought from the Box Office or on the door.

  1. I thought Bertie Pearce was outstanding - he won over his audience in his first few words and established a tremendous rapport with both children and adults with his amiable (and funny) patter and his skillful sleight of hand. This was a free show worth paying for.
